Thank you! #IWD2022

Updated: Aug 6, 2022

To start International Women’s Day celebrations this week we received an inspiration message from Hon. Minister Mary Ng, Canada’s Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development.

Maria Schwarz, R.J. McGregor & Associates for moderating a most interesting and inspiring conversation with Jackie Crooks, CCO at Kinsetsu Limited, and Debbie Goodleff, Senior Trade Officer, UK Defence & Security Exports, Department for International Trade, British High Commission, both leaders in the Security, Defense & Military industries.

And Martin Buckle MA, FCMA, CGMA, President, Biorklund & Company of Canada Ltd & SVP and Treasurer BCCTC, Jenny Okonkwo MBA FCMA(UK) CGMA, FPAC, CPA, CMA, President, Transform Consulting Inc. & Founder, Black Female Accountants Network led an interesting discussion on how we need inclusive leadership in the business world.

“Gender Responsive Budgeting is not solely a technical process of resource allocation and policy design, it is a set of decisions at the highest-level about how spending should be prioritised.” ACCA - The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

ACCA has produced guidance for the public finance profession on how to use gender-responsive budgeting to ensure that the economic recovery accounts for the different needs of men and women. The report can be accessed here (the PDF’s are also available to download), and the full version of the webinar is available here.

ACCA has the 1-hour on-demand webinar with a quiz that comes with a certificate of completion here which will provide formal CPD on the topic.

Some of the learnings we had today:

  • Having female role models - and male allies - make a difference.

  • We owe it to the generations coming behind, to give it to them, to make it easier for them.

  • Speak up! use your voice, learn how to participate in the room - start little by little, and grow.

  • Build your networks, they will enable and empower you.

We could definitely see and feel your passion today, thank you for inspiring us and helping us #BreakTheBias #IWD2022

Special thanks to ACCA Canada for sponsoring today’s

International Women’s Day Panel discussion.
