Trade and Investment Factsheets UK-Canada, DBT

This factsheet provides the latest statistics on trade and investment between the UK and Canada.

Total trade in goods and services (exports plus imports) between the UK and Canada was £26.3 billion in the four quarters to the end of Q4 2023, a decrease of 0.6% or £149 million in current prices from the four quarters to the end of Q4 2022. Of this £26.3 billion:


  • Total UK exports to Canada amounted to £16.5 billion in the four quarters to the end of Q4 2023 (an increase of 10.1% or £1.5 billion in current prices, compared to the four quarters to the end of Q4 2022);

  • Total UK imports from Canada amounted to £9.8 billion in the four quarters to the end of Q4 2023 (a decrease of 14.6% or £1.7 billion in current prices, compared to the four quarters to the end of Q4 2022).


Canada was the UK’s 15th largest trading partner in the four quarters to the end of Q4 2023 accounting for 1.5% of total UK trade.1


In 2021, the outward stock of foreign direct investment (FDI) from the UK in Canada was £40.6 billion accounting for 2.3% of the total UK outward FDI stock.


In 2021, the inward stock of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the UK from Canada was £42.4 billion accounting for 2.1% of the total UK inward FDI stock.2
